Hi there!
My name is An, and I study Political Science at the University of California, Irvine. After graduation, I will pursue a Ph.D. in Sociology to further the field of return migration and transnational immigration experiences of Southeast Asians. I hope to enter academia to produce resources, designate institutional spaces, and create leadership development opportunities for graduate students and faculty of color!
I am currently partaking in the University of California Education Abroad Program, where I am exchange student at the University of Edinburgh. In addition, I am interning with the United Nations House Scotland to advance the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and to develop local projects aimed at educating the broader community and youth on human trafficking and modern slavery, gender equality, climate action, and much more! My experience abroad would not be possible without various scholarships I received, such as the Cyril Taylor Memorial Scholarship through Fund for Education Abroad Program. I intend to share my insights into the scholarship application process, and I highly encourage you all to start seeking opportunities and scholarships to study abroad. With that, I hope you will follow me as I blog about my unique experience as a student and intern in Scotland!
With love,
An
